History

  • January 2009 - 69,053 units with a total of 1.46 million tons were handled in 2008. This represents an increase of 14 percent over the 2007´s figures and is the best result ever.
  • June 2008 - DB Schenker opens a new direct train connection between Rostock seaport and Wels in Austria. Initiated by Schenker Deutschland AG, Schenker & Co AG Austria and Hangartner AG, the so called „Danube Nordic Shuttle“ runs twice a week from now.
  • January 2008 - At the terminal for intermodal traffic, a total of 60,287 cargo units with a total tonnage of nearly 1.3 million tonnes were moved. This represents increases of 741 cargo units and 50,000 tonnes over 2006’s figures.
  • January 2007 - In 2006 a total of 59,546 cargo units with a total tonnage of 1.24 million tonnes were recorded at the terminal. This represents in increase of 5,439 units or 200,000 tonnes over 2005´s figures and the best result since combined cargo handling initiated in the Rostock Seaport in 1994
  • February 2006 - Increase of frequency from three to five blocktrains per week from and to Duisburg
  • July - November 2005 - First phase of the modernisation of the terminal (creation of an additional 20,000 square meters area, partial modernisation of railway tracks and of mobile cargo handling equipment)
  • October 2003 - Opening of the land bridge Rotterdam-Rostock
    (shuttle train connection from Rotterdam via Duisburg to Rostock)
  • June 2002 - Hangartner celebrates clearance of its 2,222th train
    (= 121,102 units)
  • February 2002 - Opening of the direct connection to Basel (Switzerland)
  • October 2001 - First train connection to Hamburg-Billwerder
  • January 1999 - Clearance of first train of the company Lkw Walter
  • February 1996 - Opening of the direct train connection between the Rostock Seaport and Verona, Italy
  • January 1996 - Clearance of the first train of the company Hangartner
  • 1994 - Combined cargo handling initiated in the Rostock Seaport
