Cruise Shipping

The Warnemünde cruise port is headed for a new passenger record this year. With 113 registered port calls by 33 cruise ships, well over 350,000 passengers are awaited for turnarounds or excursions on land. 26 cruise operators have planned to send their ships with around 200,000 passengers from around the world to Rostock’s Baltic Sea coastal resort. Warnemünde is once again the most popular destination in Germany for international cruise tourists and cruise operators.

This year’s cruise season is scheduled to begin on 05 May with the arrival of the 252-meter-long AIDAblu, the newest addition to the Rostock-based AIDA Cruises’ fleet. The departure of Boudicca of the English cruise operator Fred Olson marks the end of the cruise season on 16 September.

This year’s highlights will include two quadruple port calls on 07 June and 10 July, as well as four triple port calls on 11 June, 19 July, 06 and 23 August.

There are several factors that contribute to Rostock-Warnemünde’s appeal to cruise passengers:

While the ship is in port in Warnemünde, many passengers choose to explore the beauty of our state, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, stroll through the vibrant seaside resort town of Warnemünde, visit the venerable Hanseatic City of Rostock or even take a day trip to the German capital city, Berlin.
