AIDA - The Success Story.
What began with the signing of the building contract for the first AIDA club ship 10 years ago has developed into a success story in the tourism branch. With a turnover of 408 million Euros and 239,000 guests in the year 2006, AIDA cruises marks the most successful year yet in its history.
Today the fleet consists of four ships: the AIDAcara, AIDAvita, AIDAaura and AIDAdiva. The second new addition to the AIDA fleet will carry the name "AIDAbella". The christening of the new ship with a ceremony in Warnemünde will be on 23. April 2008. Like its sister ship, the AIDAdiva, the AIDAbella will have a G.R.T of 68,500 tonnes and be 252 metres long with a beam of 32.2 metres. It will have a total of 1,025 cabins. AIDAbella is the second of four new AIDA ships being built in Papenburg at a total cost of 1.3 billion. The other two new vessels will follow in 2009 and 2010.
"The new generation of AIDA ships will stay abreast of changes on the cruise market through the coming years. The expansion of our capacity poses a huge challenge for the AIDA crew, a challenge that we gladly accept", Michael Thamm, President of AIDA Cruises points out.
