Cruise Shipping

In 2009 cruise season Rostock hosted 113 port calls by 30 different cruise ships with a passenger volume of over 160,000.

With the 15 passenger turnarounds carried out by the new club ship AIDAluna of the Rostock-based cruise company AIDA Cruises, and the partial turnarounds of the American cruise operator Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), around 200,000 cruise passengers came through the Warnemünde cruise port.

23 international cruise operators included Rostock’s seaside resort in their programs for 2009.

Next year’s cruise season promises to be equally as exciting with around the same number of passengers and visits by cruise ships.

There are several factors that contribute to Rostock-Warnemünde’s appeal to cruise passengers:

While the ship is in port in Warnemünde, many passengers choose to explore the beauty of our state, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, stroll through the vibrant seaside resort town of Warnemünde, visit the venerable Hanseatic City of Rostock or even take a day trip to the German capital city, Berlin.
